History

For the past two decades, to advance the state of the art in the high throughput experimentation, an international community has been organizing the series of the Workshop on Combinatorial Materials Science and Technology. The 1st Japan-US Workshop on Combinatorial Materials Science and Technology was held at Maui island in Hawaii in 2000. Since then, the workshop has been hosted by diverse teams every two years at a different location. The workshop has been hosted in Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia. Early workshops were focused on high-throughput apparatus for materials synthesis/characterization and the exploration functional materials. Since then, the community has embraced materials informatics and autonomous material measurement. The map below details the history of the past 10 Combinatorial Materials Science and Technology Workshops.
